For counselling to be effective, it’s important to find the counsellor who’s right for you. So, if you are considering working with me, here you a few things it might be helpful to know about my background and experience as a counsellor and supervisor, as well as my own relationship to writing and creativity.

About Me

Professional Experience
I'm a qualified and experienced counsellor who uses writing and creativity in my work with clients ranging between the ages of eleven and ninety. My client work takes place face-to-face, as well as online and by telephone. As a member of the National Counselling Society, I adhere to their Code of Ethics.
My core training is in person-centred counselling and this informs my approach to my work with clients. I believe that every person is an expert in their own life, able to find their own answers. As a counsellor, my role is to support and facilitate that process. I don’t give advice, although I might sometimes make suggestions (which clients are never obliged to follow).
I’m also a qualified supervisor who takes a creative approach to supporting counsellors and trainee counsellors in their work, as well as others in the helping professions.
I have over twenty years experience as a teacher. I’m also a tutor and trainer who has led training and group workshops on a number of topics, including telephone counselling and using therapeutic writing for personal and professional development.
I hold additional qualifications in therapeutic coaching and NLP.
Writing and Creativity Background
I have an MSc in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes and am a member of Lapidus, the Writing for Wellbeing Community, and work within their Ethics Code in my workshops and groups.
I’m a Practitioner Member of the Association for Person-Centred Creative Arts (APCCA).
Words have always been important to me and this is reflected in all aspects of my life, including my background as a teacher of foreign languages and my love of travel. I enjoy writing creatively and hold a Diploma in Creative Writing. Journalling is part of my daily routine and plays a vital role in my self-care.
